On the 3rd June 2024, a group of Veteran Brothers from the 1st Battalion The Light Infantry, will be off to France to raise funds for The Rifles Benevolent Trust – Care for Casualties. The Trust supports injured Troops, their families and Veterans and those suffering PTSD.
They will be marching from Utah Beach along the coast to Pegasus Bridge, arriving in time for the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings on the 6th June 2024.
The last time some of these Veterans were on the Beach in France, was when they were young Soldiers on Parade for the 40th Anniversary.
Kevin Blackmore from the Durham Light Infantry will be joining the march and Gillian Campbell popped along to a special fundraising event organised by Bishop Auckland DLI and SSAFA to help him on his journey.
If you’d like to support the Kevin Blackmore in his 35km march along the Normandy beaches to raise funds for the Rifles Benevolent Trust – Care for Casualties, you can visit the website https://www.justgiving.com/page/hamandjam24
