Visitors to an open day have been given the chance to witness how the fire service responds to road traffic collisions at a Road Safety Open Day.
The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service also gave the public the opportunity to see different road accident scenarios, and how the crews extricate casualties from vehicles.
An extrication competition saw crews from across the country compete to rescue a live casualty from a simulated road traffic collision, under the critical eye of four judges from the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation.
Crews also demonstrated trauma care involving casualties which had fallen from a height and a motorcycle accident.
The Police and Communities Together team from Bishop Auckland also attended the event, encouraging local residents to attend regular PACT meetings. The Teesdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue team demonstrated their skills and equipment, and later a full scale demonstration on the fire station’s training tower.
It is the eighth time the event has been hosted by Co Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service.
