Record-breaking Mallard was recently pulled to Locomotion by Tornado. The steam locomotive is now on display in the National Railway Museum’s sister Museum in Shildon.
On Monday, 16th August, a talk will be held at Locomotion on the Mallard and its history.
“I am delighted that Locomotion is going to be home to Mallard for the foreseeable future. Mallard is one of the most famous locomotives in the world and it is a great opportunity for visitors to Locomotion to see it,” explained Councillor Eunice Huntington, Durham County Council’s Executive Member for Healthier Communities.
