Composer, harpist and pianist Aurora Engine has released her new album, Secret Knock.
The album leads with the single Miniature Self, exploring her cultivation of her own ‘smallness’ growing up, learning to blend in, shape-shift and people-please.
The song was written, produced and performed by Deborah Shaw, aka Aurora Engine, and features harp, ethereal vocals, synths and beats.

Ice Pop Shop is the latest single from the album.
“Ice Pop Shop is a synth-pop song about drunken brawlers fighting in Co. Durham (where I grew up). The protagonist ends up wounded in an ‘Ice Pop Shop’ they frequented as a child.”
Shaw is in high demand as a composer. She is Musician in Residence for environmental charity Earth In Common, MD for two choirs, and provides music-making activities for charities like Women’s Aid, Crisis, The Welcoming Charity, as well as composing music for film and TV.
Originally from the North East and now based in Scotland she sings in a Geordie-tinged dialect. Her work has been likened to Björk and Kate Bush.
