A new horror film shot in County Durham has had its premiere at a Durham cinema.
In The Devil’s Stone a group of local students research the stone and the spooky legend of Sayer Hicks.
Actress Ellie Darcey-Alden, who has appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Doctor Who, plays Maria in the short film.
The opening recording was recorded by Roger L Jackson, the voice of ‘The Voice’ in the Scream movies.
Filming took place in Crook, where the Devil’s Stone is situated near North Terrace. Scenes were also shot at The Witham in Barnard Castle and The Park Head Hotel in Bishop Auckland.
The short film was recorded entirely with mobile phones.
The Devil’s Stone can be streamed on YouTube.
