Councillor Pauline Charlton, JP and Chairwoman of Durham County Council, was delighted to see her chosen charities – Butterwick Hospice and Treetops Children’s Ward at the University Hospital of North Durham – benefit greatly from the Chairman’s Golf Day which took place last Friday. The event took place at Barnard Castle Golf Club and should raise in excess of £3,600, of which £3,000 was pledged by Barclay’s Bank.
Cllr. Charlton said, “It has been a fantastic day and I want to thank everyone who has been involved, especially Barclays Bank for their wonderful gesture”.
“This is my largest individual fund raising event of the year and we are still totting up the final figures. More money is expected but to realise over £3,600 to date, is absolutely wonderful”.
Durham County Cllr, Tracie Smith, who works part-time for Barclays, said, “This is something Barclays is delighted to support for Cllr Charlton’s charities.
“The tournament has been supported by our Chester-le-Street, Durham City and Bishop Auckland offices, and staff volunteered their services for such things as selling raffle tickets and serving refreshments”.
