Following jubilee and Olympic torch celebrations, and last weeks new car show, the recently formed Bishop Auckland Town Team is planning more events for the town.
Earlier this year the Government made available £1.2m following the recommendations of Mary Portas’ report on town centres across the country. Twelve towns were successful in becoming a ‘Portas Pilot’ towns, receiving funding and tailored support.
In order to apply for funding many Town Teams were formed. Whilst Bishop Auckland’s bid to become a Portas pilot town wasn’t successful, the Town Team have continued to work on promoting the town centre. Regular meetings are held at the Four Clocks centre, with the most recent being addressed by guest speaker Cllr Neil Foster.
The Town Team next meets on Monday, 17th September at 5.30pm. Meetings are held at the Four Clocks centre on Newgate Street. Anyone is able to attend and join the team.
