A Durham based construction engineering consultancy has swapped bricks and mortar for sequins and sweatbands in a bid to help a local youth group.
Avoca Consulting Engineers has provided much needed sponsorship for Xtreme Dance Fuzion, which runs its classes in Bishop Auckland and at schools in the area.
The construction company backed a recent three-night show at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, which featured 26 acts that required special costumes. Staff at the company also got involved behind the scenes, helping out with production of the show.
Ashleigh Lovett, who runs XDF, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that Avoca has given us and it is great to see a business looking after its local community, despite the tough economic climate.”
Avoca provides services for construction projects and recently supported an under-8s football team in Newton Aycliffe.
“Supporting the dance school is really important and demonstrates our commitment to putting something back into the community, especially for young people, given that we are heavily involved in the education sector,” said Mark Hooper, owner of Avoca Consulting Engineers.
“The production of the show was fantastic and Ashleigh clearly puts so much effort and time into everything and everyone.
“Personally I think it is amazing how she gets over 100 kids to be so coordinated and do as they are asked – I struggle to organise a dozen engineers each week!”
